Admission to the Bar Council
A bar council is an organisation that controls the legal profession. After completing a number of prerequisites, one can join the bar in Pakistan. They are required to offer certain tasks, hold a current law degree from an accredited university, and pay bar association dues. In order to practise law in Pakistan without having an LL.M. degree, a candidate must first complete six months of pupilage with an active advocate, working with that advocate on at least 10 cases during that time.

The penultimate phase of legal education, called a pupilage, often lasts six months. A certificate indicating successful completion must be signed by the student’s senior advocate and sent to the Bar Council at the end of the six-month period. The student will subsequently be given a Certificate, following which he will be able to use the title advocate and practise law.

Advocate High Court
The second level, Advocate High Court, is qualified to practise in Pakistan’s High Courts and lower levels. After successfully completing two years of practise in the lower courts, an application is made in order to receive a licence. This application is then assessed by a panel of High Court Judges, who are led by the respective province Chief Justices and the applicable provincial Bar Council. After the condition has been met successfully, the majority of applications are accepted.
