Medical & Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) is admissions test conducted in Pakistan each year for get admissions in MBBS and BDS degrees. MDCAT is conducted by University of Health Sciences Lahore (UHS Lahore) in the Punjab. Previously, its name was Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) and new name was assigned in 2020. Each year more then 55,000 students attempt this admission entry test while there are some 3400 seats in public sector medical colleges and some 200 seats in public sector dental colleges of the Punjab. MDCAT is must for admission in all medical and dental colleges both public and private sector in the Punjab, Pakistan.
MDCAT stands for Medical & Dental College Admission Test, which is mandatory and its score of test is compulsory to secure admission in both the private and public sector institutes. The primary purpose of the test is to check the ability of candidates who wish to go into the field of bachelor of medicine and surgery or just want to opt for dental surgery.
University of Health and Sciences (UHS) regulated and supervised MDCAT Test after Intermediate examinations completed. While In Federal and Sindh NTS conduct same body MDCAT Test for Public and Private admissions. Other hand, Education Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA) is responsible to conduct this pre-admission test.
Joint Admission Committee (JAC) does the same work for students of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) is an institute which is responsible for the test of army medical colleges. There are also some universities and colleges which are associated with NAT-IM. These tests are conducted by keeping in view the criteria set by Pakistan Medical and Dental council (PMDC). Provincial governments are responsible to observe this test every year.

MDCAT test syllabus conduct through science subjects. The test for potential doctors is comprised of four subjects which are Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English. Students have to attempt all questions asked in the paper.
Merit for MBBS and BDS is formulated on the basis of marks obtained in matriculation, intermediate (FSc) and entrance test exams.
